Jellystone Park in Tabor City Wins Award for Excellence in Camping Industry

Tabor City, NC (May 5, 2008) – Rick and Joey Coleman, owners of the Tabor City Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, have been recognized with the Facility of the Year Award by the Jellystone Park franchise system. The award is given to the Camp-Resort that has added new amenities and facilities while also showing sustained improvements on current amenities. The award was presented at the annual meeting of the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort group in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“We have worked hard to serve the Tabor City area and to deliver the best family camping experience possible to our patrons,” said Rick Coleman. “Receiving this award is a tremendous honor, and we’re continuing our quest to improve the camping experience for visitors by adding the Triple Water Slide, building a new arcade and expanding the camp store.”

The Camp-Resort is like a mini ‘nature park’ located on 350 acres. The land includes stocked fishing ponds and miles of trails visitors can explore on foot, bike, or golf cart. After discovering all this quiet farm in Southeastern North Carolina has to offer, visitors can cool off by the pools, splash zone, or Water Wars. Mining for gems, taking a ride on the Locomotion Truck, and challenging friends at the basketball and volleyball courts also are favorite activities of campers at the Tabor City Jellystone Park.

The park also added 27 full hook-up sites and expanded its current courtyard sites for group camping. The “buddy system”-style campsites include four sites in a square formation around one center courtyard. Other popular rentals at the Camp-Resort include private cabins, yurts, and waterfront sites.

The park’s special events lineup this year includes Farm Lovers Weekend, Chocolate Lovers Weekend and, a favorite of park staff and visitors, Redneck Weekend, held August 1-3. The competition is on with redneck games, a site-decorating contest, and the famous Miss Jellystone Womanless Beauty Pageant (a men-only affair).

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Tabor City is open year-round.
